This Week: Kevin is out to upset some people on his big 700th show ever. First, he talks about the state of movie theaters reopening and then scaling back this month. Next, he looks at new trailers for The Mandalorian: Season 2 and The Trial of the Chicago 7. Later, he reviews the new films Antebellum, The Devil All the Time, All In: The Fight for Democracy and Ratched. He also drops in an interview with Antonio Campos, the director of The Devil All the Time. Episode 339 – Enslaver!

Posted on October 17, 2013

This Week: The Halloween month continues, and so does at least one horror movie release. Even though it wasn’t screened locally, Kevin and Kristin talk about the Carrie remake as well as the goofy prison movie Escape Plan with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Other films on the docket include The Fifth Estate, which they swear they didn’t stream off a pirate server, and Paradise which puts Julianne Hough’s acting ability against that of Russell Brand playing Kevin’s father. Then, it’s on to DVD recommendations and some bizarre news shenanigans involving Madonna, the real Captain Phillips and Charlie Hunnam opening a path to Kevin’s superstardom as a motion picture sex symbol.

Luc Besson Interview

Posted on January 11, 2006

lucbessonAn Interview with Luc Besson, director of “Arthur and the Invisibles”

BY KEVIN CARR

Kevin Carr interviews Luc Besson, director of “Arthur and the Invisibles,” the new film which mixes live action with cutting-edge computer animation. While Besson is best known as the director of gritty action flicks like “La Femme Nikita” and “The Professional,” he takes a diversion from his usual fare to put together a children’s movie.

Excepts from the interview follow. Hear the entire interview here…

7M: WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO ADAPT A BOOK THAT YOU WROTE?
Only a few people know that I started with the script and wrote the book a year later. That was a funny process to me. I started with the script which I do usually. About a year later, lots of people are asking me, “What are you doing?” And I figure it’s maybe a good idea to write the book so people could be more familiar with the world. When you see “Narnia” or “Lord of the Rings” or “Harry Potter,” the book doesn’t disturb the film. I think it’s the opposite. I think it helps the film because people can get involved. When the film arrives, people can confront their own imagination with mine.

7M: HAS IT COME FULL CIRCLE, THEN?
The process was so long that I can’t even remember exactly how we start. When we started, I had two kids, and now I have five.
