This Week: Shaking off the hangover of Christmas, Kevin opens the gifts that Hollywood has given us in the last week of the year. First, there’s some news about superhero casting and Justin Bieber retiring, which dovetails into a truncated preview of Bieber’s film Believe. Kevin quickly moves on to talk about something more intellectual: Doctor Who. Later, Kevin reviews 47 Ronin, Grudge Match, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and The Wolf of Wall Street. In the final segment, Kevin reviews the past box office numbers, offers scant DVD and Blu-ray recommendations, then dissects the morality of Frosty the Snowman.

Before diving into poop and looking at porn, Merrill kicks off the show by sharing his utter confusion at a pleasant compliment at work. Kevin agrees that is terribly confusing, and he assures Merrill he will never confuse him that way again. Kevin then reminisces on his more-than 10-year career writing about movies. In the middle segment, things take a serious turn when Kevin launches into a rant about rape culture and what he characterizes as the collision of the bystander effect and reality TV. But don’t worry because things lighten up again at the end when they skewer Justin Bieber and check out some wacky news stories, with topics that include orgasmic fried chicken and whether size really does matter. Oh, snap!

This Week: In an effort to show how worldly Fat Guys at the Movies is, Kevin invites Jamaican bloggger Andrew Robinson (from www.gmanreviews.com) into the Magical Studio in the Sky for the first international broadcast of the podcast. Even though Andrew hasn’t seen the movies this week, Kevin takes a chance to shoot some warning shots over the bow of the new Justin Bieber movie and Adam Sandler. Kevin and Andrew wax poetic about Gnomeo and Juliet and The Eagle. They also share their thoughts on box office, trailer spoilers and which Adam Sandler movies are actually entertaining.
